この夏、宮崎駿監督の最新作『君たちはどう生きるか』が公開されました。 最高でした。
子供の頃から魅了された偉大なアニメーターが、一生をかけてアニメーションで表現したかったものというのはこういうものだったのか。
画角の隅から隅まで1分1秒余すことなく絵の表情と動きが吹き込まれ、今と昔が繋がって、これでもかと目眩く表現の洪水に映像酔いするほどのアニメーション。
宮崎監督に「俺はこう生きた」と見せられたような感じがしました。
子どもの頃から、宮崎監督の想い描く風景が描けるようになりたい、いつかあんな世界を描きたい、あの憧れの景色に辿り着きたいと、ずっとその幻影を追いかけていましたが、ずっと囚われていた幻影の執着からの開放感が湧き上がってきます。自分の一歩を踏み出さないと。
これがほんとに宮崎監督の最後の作品だなと思いきや、とても軽やかな5分程度の新作を毎年夏に公開してくださったら、またどんなものを見せてくれるのだろうという期待もしてしまいます。

Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki’s latest animation film, “How do you live?” was released in this summer. It was great. This is what the great animator who I have admired since I was a kid has spent his entire life try -ing to express through animation. Expression and movement is breathed into every minutes and second of every corner of the screen, connecting the present with the past. I was swept away by the flood of dazzling expression and became intoxicated.
I felt, director Miyazaki showed me “this is how I have lived” .
Ever since I was a child, I have been chasing after the illusion of his animation, wanting to draw the landscape director Miyazaki pictures in his mind, wanting to draw such a world one day, wanting to immerse myself in the world. As I watched the film, however, I felt I have freed from the attachment to the illusion. It’s time to take a step forward on my own.
This would be his final film, but if he were to release a short and light 5 minutes film every summer, I can’t help but wonder what he will show us again.
