『ある風景の中にある風景』
学生の頃、美術解剖学の布施英利先生に卒業制作のアドバイスを求めたところ「これまでのすべて、これからのすべてを1枚の絵で表現してみてください」と言葉をかけてもらいました。
Fワードをスプレー書きした上に、朴訥とした丸顔で半眼の裸の女性が一輪の菊を手にして窓の前のベットに座っている絵を描きました。作品提出の直前にタイトルは「此岸の花」と決め、「背景が人物より近くへ、人物がより遠くの風景へ」というサブタイトルをつけました。
当時は先々のことなどわかるわけもなく僕にとって絵とはこういうことなのかなとその時の想いで名付けましたが、昨年の調理室池田さんで開催させて頂きました個展の時も、最近展示の機会をいただくたびに、自分の絵はどんなことなのか整理して考えようとすると、いまも自分はあの時の延長線上にあるような気がします。
このたびの「freedom dictionary展in由布院」で頂きました展示場所が、その名も『ある風景』。
由布院に根付いている文化の土壌の上にある、ある風景、そこに置いていただく絵のある風景はどんな景色になるのでしょうか。

“A Landscape in A Landscape”
When I was a student, I asked a professor of artistic anatomy, Hidetoshi Fuse for advice on my graduation project and he told me, “try to express everything you have ever been and everything you will ever be in a single painting”.
I drew a picture of a woman, who looks naive with round face and eyes half opened, holding a single chry -santhemum and sitting on a bed in front of a window, on top of the F word I painted with a spray. At the last minutes, I decided the title as “A Flower on This Shore”, and subtitled it “Background Closer than Figure, Figure Further than the Distant Landscape”.
At that time, I had no idea what would happen in the future, so I named it after what I thought my paint -ings meant to me then. Every time I receive a chance to hold a solo exhibition, I organize my thoughts on what my paintings mean and realize I have been on the same path since then.
This time, I am given an opportunity to exhibit my works as a part of “freedom dictionary in Yufuin” at A Landscape. What would you see at A Landscape, which was built on the culture cultivated in Yufuin? What would you find in the landscape of the painting then?
