In the Hidden Portraits cover the faces of the sitters. Deprived of access via the face, we are now forced to look at the paintings in a completely different way. In doing so, I integrate contemporary social discourses: art as an expression of power, questions of diversity or equality. I transform statements of historical clothing with the codes of today’s fashion or aspects of fetish clothing. Since my interventions fit into the original image, they do not destroy the original, but they do allow a contemporary view on historical art.
